Many of his refurbished buildings are equipped for both living and working - restating a principle of 19th Century city design that people should be able to live close to their work. first to spot the housing potential of Manchester's derelict industrial
buildings. Now residents are flocking from the suburbs to the heart of the
city to live in flats and lofts carved out of disused mills and factories.
