Mike Harrison
Small business specialism
|
 |
 |
| Since the early 1980s I have
been involved with start-up and small or medium-sized businesses as a
director, employee, contractor and consultant. I now write
and advise extensively on small business and enterprise issues.
This work includes regular features for First Voice, the bi-monthly
magazine of the Federation of Small Business which circulates in excess of
170,000 copies in the UK.
I have recently conducted high-profile
interviews with key policy spokespeople: Shadow Chancellor, Michael
Howard; Small Firms Minister, Nigel Griffiths; the outgoing Chairman of
the Better Regulation Task Force, Lord Haskins; Chairman of the Small
Business Council, William Sargent; and both the founding Chief of the
Small Business Service, David
Irwin, and his successor Martin Wyn Griffith.
As
a BBC tv producer I was responsible for developing the innovative
education series A Good Job? which looked, amongst other
things, at the importance of enterprise to the UK economy and culture.
I
act as a consultant or interim
manager to small and medium-sized firms, assisting with management
strategies, media policy, environmental matters, and applications for
national awards and for project grants. |
